Epoxy Special Inspections
At All American Inspection Services, we routinely provide thorough and professional epoxy inspection for residential and commercial building projects.
The Need for Epoxy Special Inspection
According to the California Building Code (CBC), the use of epoxy adhesives is a special case that sometimes requires special inspection in order to confirm the safety and quality of building practices. Local municipalities may also have additional requirements for the use of epoxy adhesives in construction.
We Have Epoxy Inspection Certification!
Got epoxy? We can inspect that! At All American Inspection Services, our long list of credentials includes epoxy inspection certification. In fact, we only employ ICC-certified inspectors who can examine the use of epoxy to ensure it is up to code. These professional building inspectors will examine the work to make sure that the hole’s diameter is large enough and that any concrete dust has been thoroughly removed from the drill site. We also conduct epoxy dowel inspection and epoxy anchor inspection.
Epoxy Use Guidelines
When using epoxy, it’s important to check that the epoxy is fresh and has not reached its expiration date prior to use. In addition, you should make sure that the epoxy you’re using is the brand specified in the building plans (when applicable), whether they’re Simpson, Covert, or Hilti, for example.
Next, ensure that the hole you drill is a minimum of 1/8 inch in diameter larger than the anchor or rebar you’ll be using. In addition, the depth of the hole must be drilled in accordance with all building plans and drawings.
Finally, remove any concrete dust or debris using an air pump, compressor, or brush.

Tips for Quick Epoxy Anchor Special Inspection
Note that an inspector does not have to be on site while your contractors are drilling holes for epoxy application. In fact, we recommend that this step is done prior to calling the inspector in. Doing so will save time for everyone involved and reduce the costs associated with epoxy special inspection.
If you follow the instructions outlined above, the procedure for special epoxy inspection should go off without a hitch. Remember, we’re not there to give you a hard time or to waste precious minutes on the job site. Instead, it’s our job to ensure your epoxy applications are in line with local, city, and state building codes, so that there’s no problems down the line.
